Gifford Fire

Incident Overview

As of 12:00 PM on 8/20/2025, the fire had burned approximately 131,589 acres with 95% containment. 

Management of the Gifford Fire transitioned on 8/19/2025 from Unified Command to Complex Interagency Incident Management Team 8, which assumed leadership from Team 5 and CalFire.

REPORT YOUR DAMAGES

The County Office of Emergency Services is collecting agricultural damage information from private property owners and business owners to understand the extent of the damages caused by the Gifford Fire. 

NOTE: This is not an application for financial assistance. However, if there is extensive damage, Individual Disaster Assistance may become available.

EVACUATION SHELTERS 

Following recent changes to evacuation zones and current lack of need, both north and south county evacuation shelters have been closed.

For large animal evacuation assistance, please contact Horse Emergency Evacuation Team (HEET) at 805-466-7457.
