Veterans Emergency Housing Assistance
The SSVF Program Office has recently issued additional guidance that SSVF grantees have the ability to place enrolled homeless SSVF program participants in temporary housing (motels and hotels) while working towards a permanent housing placement. Please understand that EHA is only available to SSVF enrolled participants who are homeless. If you are a community partner/provider that has a Homeless Veteran in need of housing assistance, please refer them to our SSVF programs for screening and potential intake. Please send any referrals to us despite the EHA guidance below. Coordination from the referring agency of any documentation such as ID, SSN, income verification, etc would be greatly appreciated so that we can expedite screenings and enrollments.
Emergency Housing Assistance (EHA) can only be used for high-risk Veterans that meet the following criteria:
- Veterans over the age of 60 And/Or
- Veterans with autoimmune disorders or weakened immune systems.
- Veterans with respiratory disease or impacted lung function.
*Please note that Veterans who are symptomatic with COVID-19 should not be referred for these emergency housing placements as SSVF grantees do not have the capacity to place and adequately monitor such patients.
Referral should be sent to the following providers based on region:
