- December 6, 2020 San Luis Obispo falls under Regional Stay At Home Orders.
- November 16, 2020 San Luis Obispo categorized as Widespread (purple) Tier 1.
- October 28, 2020 - The County Health Officer issues Health Officer Order #4 and Health Officer Order #5 to assist with testing at the County Jail and Juvenile Hall.
- September 22, 2020 - San Luis Obispo County categorized as Substantial (red) or Tier 2.
- September 21, 2020 - The County Health Officer rescinds Health Officer Order No. 2 - Restriction on Visitors to Skilled Nursing Facilities.
- August 28, 2020 - San Luis Obispo County categorized as Widespread (purple) or Tier 1.
- August 28, 2020 - State of CA releases Blueprint for a Safer Economy and new Health Officer Order.
- July 16, 2020 -Additional closures and restrictions issued by State of CA due to placement on County Monitoring List.
- July 16, 2020- San Luis Obispo County added to State's County Monitoring List.
- July 13, 2020- State of CA issues closures statewide of various businesses and sectors.
- July 3, 2020 - The County Health Officer issues temporary order to close bars, pubs and breweries countywide for July 4th weekend
- June 18, 2020 - State of California puts a statewide face covering order in place.
- June 5, 2020 - The County terminates the Local Emergency Order restricting the use of short term lodging
- June 5, 2020 - The County Health Officer issues an order to restrict visitors to skilled nursing facilities
- June 5, 2020 - County lifts order restricting hospital visitors

- March 30, 2020 – Cal Poly Alternate Care Site construction and set up begins
- March 26, 2020 – The County of San Luis Obispo Health Officer issues an order to restrict hospital visitors
- March 24, 2020 – The County Emergency Services Director orders the stand-up of the Cal Poly Alternate Care Site and a unique public-private partnership is quickly formed
- March 22, 2020 – FEMA California COVID-19 Pandemic Major Disaster is Declared: Event (DR-4482)
- March 20, 2020 – The County Emergency Services Director makes the decision, based on a probably worst-case infection scenario, to explore potential sites for an Alternate Care Site. Cal Poly President Jeff Armstrong offers any resources and facilities that Cal Poly has. After assessment of several locations, Cal Poly SLO’s Rec Center is selected.
- March 19, 2020 - Governor Newsom issues a stay at home order to protect the health and well-being of all Californians and to establish consistency across the state in order to slow the spread of COVID-19
- March 18, 2020 - The County of San Luis Obispo Emergency Services Director issues a Shelter-at-Home Order effective at 5:00 pm on March 19, 2020. The order will be reviewed every 14 days.
- March 18, 2020 - The County of San Luis Obispo Emergency Services Director issues a Suspension of Evictions Order
- March 17, 2020 – City of Pismo Beach Proclaims a Local Emergency
- March 17, 2020 – City of Arroyo Grande Proclaims a Local Emergency
